I understand that some animals must be euthanized in the natural process of a "kill shelter"...with so many people buying pets at stores and from breeders, many organizations are left with no choice. But there is absolutely no excuse for inhumanely putting a dog down!! All it takes is a properly administered injection to end a dog’s life without suffering. I am completely disgusted that an animal shelter would choose this horrific method to solve what I can only imagine must have been a major money issue. Which still does not justify this course of action!!

A PLEA FROM BRUCE
This is Bruce before he was seized… September 2007
You may have heard this heartbreaking story of a dog removed from his loving home in the name of BSL…Bruce was seized by council on September 19, 2007 as an alleged “Pit Bull-type” dog under the 1991 dangerous dog act. Since then he has been held captive in utterly horrifying conditions at a shelter in Ireland.
This once happy, family dog has slowly deteriorated into a malnourished, sickly animal covered in cuts and soars. Part of his tail has fallen off and his face has a cut so infected it now covers the whole top of his nose with scabby puss. This dog’s poor health condition reflects a level of neglect that should never be tolerated from any care-giver but especially not an animal shelter! Bruce and his family are suffering needlessly day in and day out.
Is this what legislators intended when they enacted dangerous dog laws like BSL?
October 2007
March 2008 (6 months after seized) Infected Nose
Infected Leg
Infected Tail falls off
As of September 12, 2008 Bruce was unfortunately declared a “Pit Bull-type”. On that day it was decided that Bruce would have to be destroyed just like every other “Pit Bull-type” before him.
Bruce’s family is fighting hard to bring their beloved pet back home where he belongs. They filed for an appeal, but Bruce must remain behind bars as he waits for the final word. That’s where we come in!
